Hammersmith Apollo refurbAfter a multi-million pound refurbishment London’s iconic Art Deco music and comedy venue, Hammersmith Apollo, is due to reopen in September.

The opening performer will be American pop star Selena Gomez who will be performing on the 7th and 8th September.

When opened it was known as the Gaumont Palace cinema, and was designed in the Art Deco style by renowned architect Robert Cromie.

Over the years the venue has hosted some memorable concerts, including 38 gigs by The Beatles between 1964 and 1965; jazz concerts by Count Basie, Ella Fitzgerald, Duke Ellington and Louis Armstrong; David Bowie’s final concert as Ziggy Stardust in 1973; shows by Bob Marley and The Rolling Stones and Bruce Springsteen’s epic 1975 performance. It later became a home to comedy shows and was for a time sponsored by Carling.
